1/12/2023 0 Comments Day of defeat source sniper bug![]() for one reason, if realism held true, CS would be funner with a smaller number of people, and DoD would be funner with a larger number of people to simulate a war, which is not the case, CS gets fun with lots of people (i actually perfer smaller servers) and DoD is PERFECT 6v6 (though my friend prefers the war type servers of 15 vs 15, which i feel its so crowded and there are so many snipers and MGs you cant really do anything) One thing to know about DoD is that the guns have recoil, and your screen will actually bounce when you fire, especially with a fully automatic, so the word "skill" actually comes into play allot, especially when using some of the larger guns, such as the FG42 and the BAR.Īs for the game being realistic, The term Realistic should never be applied to the games CS and DoD. This map basically plays out the same for the axis, which makes it one of the more popular maps. If the Allies manage to cap and hold all 4 of the control points, the battle will bottleneck into the last street, requireing some great team work and some sly motives to cap the last flag, which is a 2 man cap. this control points also requires 2 people to cap it.Īt the left side of the end of the square is a path leading into a road, and another door that leads into the "back area" of the axis spawn which is basically a building allies rarely go into besides to spawn camp, and i use that term loosely, because this is a great way to exterminate axis snipers with your knife - View image here:. if you enter into the square, the 3nd control points is directly in the center, which usually has the axis advantage because they have so many places they can shoot you from, but typically doesnt end up being a problem. there will also be a hole blown on the inside of the church leading to another path that leads to the road which has the axis first control point at the end of it. If you had entered into the hole in the church, you would end up inside of a unrealistic church that has a spiral staircase leading all the way up to the top where the bell tower should be, leading itself to a terrific sniping area. Inside of the building are a few windows where snipers will typically post up, or you can usually pop shots off at enemies. if you enter into the building you will be in a sort of apartment complex that has 3 stories, and if you follow it all the way through, it drops you off at the 4th control point, which is the axis's 2nd control point and will usually be covered by a machine gun coming from either directly above it, or from across the square. In the center of the square is the 3 control points, which is really the most important because it is where the majority of the battle will be for, because whoever holds the middle spot is advancing on the enemy. directly to your left is your 2nd control point. at the end of the street, it will turn right, entering into the square, however, directly to your right, just before the square is a doorway that leads into another building, and across from the street is a hole in the wall of a destroyed church. The name of the game on Avalanche is capture and hold, you basically need to capture and hold 5 points throughout the map, which will award your team points, and the map will start over.Īnyways, if you had proceeded through the streets, you woulda came across the first control point, further down the street, you will come into the square, which has rumble and debris all around it and this is usually where you will encounter your first axis player, especially if the round has just begun. the building on the left mazes through and ends up with either a spot to snipe from, or another room that is directly above the first capture point. You start out in a destroyed building, and you have either the option of proceeding up through the streets into the town square, or into the destroyed building on the left. (I'll describe this map through the allie perspective) On the level avalanche, its basically an uphill battle through a city for the allies, which start at the bottom of the hill, and the axis start at the top of the hill. the game actually has 3 countries ATM, Britain, America, and Germany, however, the levels are always Axis VS Allies, so you will either be brits or americans depending on which map it is, and you will use guns that that country typically used in the war. The game is of course based on WW2, so you have your typical guns, and your typical teams. ![]() I'll just describe the Level Avalanche and how it usually plays out. Yea, I used to play DoD all the time, I can explain the gameplay but I dont know if i can really compare it to anything.
